What's coming up in Week 6

1. SA1 Oral examination (Reading, Picture Discussion and Conversation) will be held on Thursday, 2 May after school hours in the afternoon. Please revise your readings using the ones in your LC book. Next week, we will be doing a lot of readings and picture discussions.
2. Compo corrections for "Hissing Sound" is due on Monday.
3. Also due on Monday is Synthesis WS 5.9.
4. There will still be Spelling on Monday too.

Compo Mock Exam and Hissing Sound ...

1. There will be a mock-up exam for composition tomorrow. You will be tasked to complete one Situational Writing and one Continuous Writing within 70 minutes. Please revise your creative phrases lists and remember to strategies your timing for each piece of writing properly:
• 20 minutes for Situational Writing
• 50 minutes for Continuous Writing - maximum 15 minutes for planning, at least 30 minutes for writing and at least 5 minutes for checking.
2. Please do your composition corrections for "Hissing Sound". Remember to:

• Type out your compo corrections
• Save as a Word document in this format [name][class]_Hissing Sound.doc eg: john5A_HissingSound.doc
• send the document to me via email OR
• save the document in a thumbdrive and submit the drive to me
• print out your corrections (if you are unable to print it out, I will do it for you ...)
• staple the print out behind your composition

The corrections are due next Monday(29 April) but do not wait too long to finish it. Once you are done, you may submit your work anytime before the due date.

Batam Trip and Cat Gone Missing

1. For those of you who are selected for the Batam Trip, please submit these:
• Photocopy of your passport for verification purposes especially the date of expiry. Your passport need to have at least 6 months grace period before it expires, for this trip.
• $105 for those co-paying with Edusave OR $245 for those paying in full.
• $5 for those who have ordered the AFP (black) T-shirt. For those who have the T-shirt, you need not buy another one.
2. SW 3: Cat Gone Missing is due on Monday. Please follow the guiding framework for your letter to teh residents closely. Also, complete the Pre-Task Activity at the back of the question paper.

Nat Geo Bus and Synthesis (again)

• The National Geographic Bus will be parked in our school tomorrow from 1pm to 4pm. Please check it out. There will be prizes given out if you take part in the activities.

Rainbow Day and Compo...

• Tomorrow, we will be celebrating Rainbow Day 2 in commemoration of International Friendship Day. You are allowed to be in your casual attire but NO pajamas and slippers, please!
• Final Draft of "Old Lady at Bus Stop" is due on Wednesday, 10 April. Remember to:
• Use creative phrases for your introduction as well as when describing feelings.
• Write questions on the thoughts of your characters in your compo especially to create suspense. Limit the number of questions (to show thoughts) to 3 max.

EL assignment

Forms and Reading ...

Forms:

1. Please return me the Phase 1 Registration of Children for Admission to Primary One in 2014 (green) form, with the appropriate boxes checked, sections filled (if applicable) and parent's acknowledgement (signature) latest by this coming Monday, 15th April.
2. For those who received the Little Red Dot subscription info, please submit your payment to me by tomorrow. Exact change is very much appreciated for those paying by cash.
3. For those who have been selected to go for the Batam trip (congratulations!), please get the payment ready. Those opting to co-pay with Edusave, get ready $105 while those paying by cash in full, the amount is $245. Payment can be made to me anytime before end of next week.

Reading:

1. Please revise (practise, practise, practise) Reading Passages 1, 2 and 3 on pages 7, 14 and 21 respectively in your Listening Comprehension Book. I will be calling you (randomly) to test on your reading. The targeted minimum score is 8.
